Guide
Sharing your location
Help your friends find you: your live position for a few hours, or a plan with the place and time you will be there.
Live
- In a festival, open the ⋯ menu and choose “Share my location”.
- Choose for how long: 2 h or 6 h.
- The first time, your browser asks for permission to use your location.
- Only your friends see you, and only until the time you chose: then it ends on its own.
- Your position is sent while Festa'm is open. Browsers do not allow sending it with the app closed: if you close it, your friends see the last position that arrived.
The bar at the top
While you share, a bar on every screen reminds you: “Sharing your location until 23:40”. It turns amber in the last 10 minutes, and coral if your position is not getting through (no permission or no connection).
Tap it to see how long is left and when your last position was sent, to add “One more hour” or to stop sharing.
Plans: “I’m going to…”
If you would rather not share your live position, say where you will be. Your friends see that place and time on the map instead of your position.
- On an event’s page, tap “I’m going”: your friends see it until the event ends.
- On the festival map, “Drop a pin”: tap the place, give it a name (“the bar on the square”) and tap “Share plan”. The time is the slider’s, at most 12 hours ahead.
Tip: A plan and live sharing do not go together: starting one ends the other.
Seeing your friends
Friends who are sharing show on the map with their initial and name; plans, with an arrow to the place and time.
On the home screen, the Friends tab lists them: tap one to see them on the map.
Your privacy
Only your friends see your position. We keep no history of where you have been: only the last position, which deletes itself when the time is up. Stopping sharing deletes it at once.
